While recording, or in a video you imported, tap the screen at a good moment. Tapclip keeps what came before and after the tap and leaves out the rest. Stop, and you get one reel of those moments, plus each clip on its own. No AI decides what was good. You do, with your thumb. On device, offline, no account. The clips are ready for your editor.

I play a lot of sport - football, lacrosse, weight training, HYROX. A while ago I raced HYROX in Chiba, and my family filmed me. I was glad they shot so much of it. But what arrived was a pile of long videos. To keep anything, I had to open each one from the start and play through it to work out whether it was worth keeping, and where the parts I actually wanted to see again were. They were videos my family had filmed for me, and watching myself was fun. Even so, the searching was a chore. I built Tapclip to get rid of that chore. While you are recording, the moment you think "that one was good", you tap the screen. Tapclip keeps the seconds before and after your tap, so you are left with only the scenes you liked. I did not write a single line of code by hand. I gave the design and the reviewing to Claude Code and the implementation to Codex, and kept myself to deciding what to build and why. The app itself is Expo, React Native and TypeScript. Everything that touches video is handled by a native module I built in Swift with AVFoundation. Purchases run on RevenueCat. The only thing Tapclip uses is the time of the tap. There is no AI. The person holding the camera decides which moment was good - the app does not. The hard part is keeping what happened before you tap. You cannot record the past, so the camera has to keep rolling the whole time, and every tap has to be stamped against the recording's own clock. That work cannot be done in JavaScript. The iOS APIs that cut and join video have no JavaScript entry point. So I wrote the Swift module myself.
