Steam Frame - Your Steam library, now on a wearable PC

Steam Frame is a wireless SteamOS headset that streams your whole library from a PC, Deck, or Machine, and runs standalone titles too. Dual radios plus an included adapter keep streaming stable. The controllers work as VR wands and a full gamepad.

Hi everyone!

Steam Frame is Valve’s new VR headset, with a lot of underneath.

It runs SteamOS and can play supported games on its own. When you want the full PC library, it streams from your gaming PC over the included 6GHz adapter. Even the controllers make sense for both sides: VR when you need it, normal gamepad controls when you don’t.

Valve somehow made a headset that makes me want to open desktop mode first.

There’s a normal Linux PC sitting underneath the VR layer, and I suspect I’d spend almost as much time messing around with that as actually playing VR games.

:)

Great idea, but quite expensive especially when comparing it to something such as the Meta Quest 3 which is almost a third of this thing's price

congrats on the launch !, what's most unique about Steam Frame?

the "controllers double as VR wands and a full gamepad" bit is the smart part here - most standalone headsets make you choose between VR input and a real controller. Curious how heavy the headset ends up being for long sessions compared to Quest, since Valve's controllers alone aren't light.
