New in Sponkly: Record, live transcript and translation for lectures, talks and meetings
by•
Big update from Sponkly: Record.
Record a lecture, talk or meeting in any of 44 spoken languages. The transcript and its translation appear live while people speak, and when you finish you get a clean transcript with who spoke and a summary in both languages. Share it as a PDF (side by side or one language), Word, text, subtitles, audio or a link.
Who it is for: international students in lectures, conference and trade-fair visitors, teams meeting foreign partners, journalists, language learners.
Meetings also moved to LiveKit media this week, so video and sound stay steady with many people.

the speaker identification feature sounds useful especially for longer meetings. Does it still separate speakers accurately when people talk over each other?
@mrbala_subramaniam Thanks Bala! Mostly, but overlap is the hard case. Speakers are separated after you press Finish, in a second pass over the whole recording (the live view shows the words as they come, without names). When people take turns it's reliable. When two people talk at the same time, each word still goes to one speaker, so a quick "yes, exactly" said over someone else can end up in their line. Tapping any line jumps the audio there, so you can always check who said it. Putting the phone in the middle of the table, not next to one person, also helps a lot.
