Hey Product Hunt, I'm Cobi, and I made speakeasy.
I write all day: Slack, email, and more and more, long prompts to coding agents.
I was paying for a dictation app, and three things kept bugging me:
1. it cost more than I wanted to pay
2. it kept my dictations
3. every update added features I didn't need
So I built something smaller:
hold a key, talk, and have the words show up where my cursor already was, with no history saved.
How it works:
• Hold Right Option (you can change the key) and talk the way you normally would
• Let go. Your text goes into the field you were writing in
• Optional Polish removes the "um"s, sorts out "not Friday, Thursday" and fixes punctuation, and is designed to keep names, paths and identifiers
• If an app won't take an automatic paste, your text is on the clipboard and the widget tells you
Pricing: 5 free dictations every week, then $5/month for 12 hours or $9 for 30. Practice mode is free and never uses your allowance. The source is AGPL, and you can build it with your own Groq key instead.
Honest limits: Mac only (Apple Silicon, macOS 14+), English, needs internet, up to five minutes per dictation. There's no saved history of what you say.
The launch video was built entirely in code (Remotion plus a Python synth), so ask me about that too.
What I'd love to know: where do you type the most, and does speakeasy. work there for you?
