Smart Home Cinema for Jellyfin - Voice control for Jellyfin on TV — three editions

by•
The original Smart Home Cinema launch focused on voice control for local VLC and PotPlayer playback on a Windows PC. This relaunch adds a separate Jellyfin package for supported TV clients and streaming devices, with three editions: Local Voice, Voice Assistant, and Multi-Zone. It introduces per-TV and per-zone routing, independent control of up to four configured zones, numbered Movie Lists, supported playback and navigation commands, and a fully functional 14-day trial.

Hi Product Hunt, I originally built Smart Home Cinema to control local VLC and PotPlayer playback on a Windows PC. After that version was working, I started wondering whether the same convenience could be extended to people who watch their own media through Jellyfin on a television. The challenge was not simply sending a play command. I had to make movie selection predictable, route commands to the correct Jellyfin client, handle different TV-platform capabilities, and support households with more than one user and television. That work became a separate Jellyfin package with three editions: • Local Voice — microphone-based voice control on the Windows PC • Voice Assistant — Alexa or Google Assistant through TRIGGERcmd • Multi-Zone — independent control of up to four configured Jellyfin zones I tested the system on real TV clients and built the public feature set around what each platform actually supports rather than assuming every client behaves the same way. I would be very interested to hear how Jellyfin users currently control playback across their televisions and which of these three approaches fits their setup best.
