SimpleFinances - It is not a spending problem. It is a visibility problem.
by•
SimpleFinances connects to your bank accounts and shows every payment hitting them, organized by category, so invisible patterns become visible. It flags recurring charges you forgot about, forecasts low-balance days before they hit, tracks net worth, and recaps what changed each week. No spreadsheets, no manual entry — just your real transactions and the next step to fix what is leaking. 700+ people have signed up. You do not have a spending problem. You have a visibility problem.

@simplefinances Upvoted. I appreciate that you're focused on helping people take action instead of simply giving them another dashboard, and that practical approach is what stood out to me. How do you detect recurring subscriptions accurately when merchants change their billing names or charge amounts over time?
@spotch_founder Nick, thank you for the kind response. Actionable steps are exactly what I strive to provide as that's how people make real progress on their financial journey!
I detect recurring transactions by comparing historical purchases, ideally for more than a year so annual subscriptions are caught. For the name changes, I detect the base business name - Amazon, Amazon LLC, etc. can all be grouped together. If there are low confidence items, I also give an alert so it can manually be verified by the user.
UPVOTED!!! i thought it was interesting that you realised dashboards alone don't change behaviour. helping people understand what to do next feels much more useful than simply showing them more data. congrats on the launch 👏
