Back in 2023, I realized I had too many photos in my camera roll. So many of them I didn't even need; they were usually accidental photos or old screenshots that I forgot to delete. I tried to organize them all at once, but I got really overwhelmed with it and never finished. Even if I did, how long would it take for me to have to clean them all out again? I needed a better way. So the idea I had was, "What if, instead of doing it all at once, I could make it a habit to declutter a little every day?". So I built a very rough app and have been using it ever since. Recently, I decided to go the indie route and build my own apps, but I didn't have any new ideas. A friend of mine told me, "You should release that photo app you have!". I brushed it off at first, thinking only I had this problem and no one else would want to use it. After a lot of thought, I then decided to do some user research, rebuild the app from scratch, and release it on the app store; and that's how Shutter Declutter was born!
