Hey Product Hunt, I’m Naren 👋🏼, the maker of ShadySide. I launched the first beta last year as a tiny experiment around a very specific travel problem: when you’re taking a bus, train, or car ride, which side should you sit on to avoid direct sun? The idea came from a real annoyance: picking a seat, starting the journey, and realizing the sun is going to roast you for the next hour. Since the beta, I’ve rebuilt and polished a lot of the product. ShadySide is now out of beta with a more stable planning flow, recent and favourite routes, better sharing, a feedback loop, and a public status page. What changed in this relaunch: The planner is smoother and handles “leave now” trips better You can save recent and favourite routes for repeat journeys Results can be shared with cleaner trip cards You can give quick feedback on whether the recommendation was accurate The app now has a public status page Public pages, docs, tips, and result clarity have been improved I’m especially interested in feedback from: people who commute by bus or train people in hot cities travellers and tourists people who work on a laptop while commuting builders who care about niche utility tools A few questions I’d love your thoughts on 💭: - Is the result easy to understand? - Would you use saved routes for daily commutes? - Should ShadySide focus more on buses/trains, or also expand pre-trip low-sun guidance for car journeys? - What would make you trust the recommendation more? Thanks for checking it out. I’d love your honest feedback. 😄
