I moved to London from France and spent years not understanding my rights as a renter. I didn't know what my landlord was legally required to do, what a valid eviction notice looked like, or who to contact when things went wrong. I just assumed the landlord was always right. Today the Renters' Rights Act 2025 came into force in England. No more no-fault evictions, rent capped to once a year, blanket pet bans unlawful. It's a big deal for the 2.7 million people renting privately in London. I built Settl to launch alongside it. It helps renters check if their rent is fair by postcode, understand their new rights in plain English, verify their deposit is protected, and draft a formal letter to their landlord in seconds. It also has direct contact details for all 33 London borough housing enforcement teams, which took a while to put together. No account. No ads. No landlord affiliations. Completely free.
