AI in games should go deeper than NPC chat

by

A lot of AI-in-games experiments start with NPC conversations. I think the more interesting opportunity is underneath that.

While building Sensipets, I’ve been using AI to help reason about interconnected game systems and code paths and all the weird edge cases that appear when those systems interact.

With newer models like Astra, that’s becoming much more practical. Better reasoning across large parts of the codebase means I can build more ambitious systems while keeping flows more consistent and secure.

The player-facing result is hopefully not “look, AI!” It’s a world that feels deeper, more interconnected, and more responsive.

I’d love to hear what people actually want AI to enable in games beyond generated dialogue and art.
