Yoast says my pages are all green. ChatGPT has never cited one of them. Is anyone else seeing this?

I build WordPress sites and something started bugging me last year.
Pages that ranked fine on Google, all green in Yoast, were nowhere when I asked ChatGPT or Perplexity the question the page was written to answer.
It cited someone else every time.
Went looking for why and found a 2024 Princeton-led study that measured what actually makes an AI engine cite a source. It isn't keyword density or any of the things the green tick checks.
It's quotes, statistics, real citations, and answering the question in the first paragraph.
Ranking and being cited turned out to be different problems with different rules.
I ended up building a scorer for those factors because nothing existed, and it changed how I write.
But I'm more interested in whether other people have noticed the gap.
If you've got a site that ranks well, have you ever checked whether AI engines actually cite it?
And if they don't, do you care yet, or is the traffic still coming from blue links?
If anyone wants to see where a page of theirs stands, I'm happy to run it and reply with the score.
The thing I built is at seobetter.com if you'd rather try it yourself.
