Would you enter a live 40-second dance battle with a stranger? Looking for honest feedback

Hi everyone! I’m a first-time app builder working on CYPHER, a live dance battle app for iOS (16+).

How it works: two dancers, one track, 4 rounds of 10 seconds. The audience votes in real time, and anyone watching can challenge the winner, so spectators become competitors. Besides 1v1 battles, there’s a Party Mode for up to 6 people, a rhythm mini-game for anyone not ready to turn their camera on, and Chaos Mode, where judges pick one of two challenges for the dancer (like “next round, dance like your drunk uncle at a wedding”).

I’m about to start a small closed beta. Live video is costly to run, and the app can’t be a paid download, so I’m trying to figure out if this can be sustainable before I go all in. I’d love your honest take:

The product

  1. Would you jump into a 40-second battle with a stranger? What would make you do it, or stop you?

  2. What would make you come back the next day?

    3. Would you pay for anything in an app like this? If yes, what and how (small purchases, a subscription, something else)? If no, why not?
    4. Do you think a live social app for a 16+ audience can be sustainable, and what would you try first?

The big picture
5. Do you see potential here, or is it a no? Be blunt.
