Why I built HeyPapin: AI shouldn’t just do the work for us—it should teach us how to think
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Andreas. I’ve always been passionate about education and the transformative potential of technology.
Like many of you, I believe AI is one of the most incredible innovations for humanity. But recently, I noticed something concerning—especially among students and young learners.
A friend of mine had subscribed to multiple premium AI tools. But watching how they used them was disheartening: they were using AI purely to do the assignments for them, not to teach them. AI was being treated as a shortcut to bypass thinking, rather than a patient mentor to deepen understanding.
Education over pure business
I wanted to build something impactful for learners, students, and educators—not just another business chatbot spitting out walls of text.
That’s why I created HeyPapin (https://www.heypapin.com).
HeyPapin isn’t here to replace the AI models you already use. It’s here to fundamentally change how humans learn with AI:
1. Teaching by Drawing, Step-by-Step
Instead of paragraphs of text, Papin teaches visually on a live interactive whiteboard—sketching diagrams, deriving formulas, and connecting concepts in real time.
2. A Voice Tutor You Can Interrupt
If you don’t understand a step, you don’t need to restart or prompt from scratch. Just speak up or cut in mid-drawing—Papin pauses immediately and explains right on the diagram already there.
3. Co-creating the Board
The canvas is yours too. You can draw your own diagrams, annotate formulas, and Papin reads your handwriting and continues teaching from where you left off.
I’d love to get your thoughts, constructive feedback, and advice as makers and learners!
