Why are core baby tracking features paywalled? Trying a freemium approach.

by•

Most popular baby tracking apps lock basic logging (feeds, diapers, sleep) behind expensive subscriptions or clutter the screen with ads during late-night feeds.

I'm currently developing a lightweight baby tracker focused on keeping essential daily logs 100% free and ad-free, with paid tiers reserved strictly for optional predictive analytics and long-term data exports.

For parents and builders who have used or built tracking tools:

  • Did aggressive paywalls in apps like Huckleberry or Sprout push you away?

  • Where do you feel the fair line is between free utility and paid premium features?
