What makes you trust an app that can delete files from your Mac?
Mac storage cleaners ask for something unusually sensitive: permission to scan your files and remove them.
I’m building SpaceUp Mac after repeatedly dealing with the “Storage Full” warning.
The scanning part is straightforward. But I think the real product problem is trust.
My current approach is:
• Everything is scanned locally
• You see what is taking up space
• Nothing is selected without your knowledge
• You decide what gets deleted
Before trying a new Mac cleaner, what would you need to see?
Clear preview before deletion
Recovery or undo
Mac App Store availability
Independent security review
Open-source code
Something else
And honestly, would you download a DMG from a new maker’s website, or only trust the Mac App Store version?
