We’re building CatchDex: a private FishDex for real-world anglers

We’re building CatchDex, a private collection game for anglers who already take catch photos but want something more useful and fun than a camera roll.

The idea is simple:

Log a real catch → use AI to help identify the species → keep the exact spot private → unlock a collectible FishDex card.

Most fishing apps focus on maps, forecasts, or finding spots. We’re taking a different angle: what happens after the catch.

CatchDex helps anglers:
- turn catches into collectible FishDex cards
- keep fishing spots private with aliases instead of exposed coordinates
- track species progress, mastery, and season history
- create GPS-safe share cards
- build a personal fishing collection from real-world memories

The hardest part has been balancing “game feel” with trust. Anglers care deeply about not burning spots, so privacy can’t be a bolt-on feature. It has to shape the whole product.

We’re currently in beta and would love feedback from anglers, outdoor app builders, privacy-first product folks, or anyone who has thoughts on making real-world logging feel more rewarding.
