We’re building AntiRot: an Android app for people tired of doomscrolling

by

Hey everyone!

My partner Samrat and I have been building AntiRot, an Android app designed to help people break the doomscrolling cycle.

The idea came from a simple frustration: knowing you’ve spent too much time scrolling isn't necessarily enough to stop you. Most screen-time tools tell you what you’ve done, but they don't always help you change the behavior.

With AntiRot, we're taking a more rules-first and friction-based approach.

You can:

  • Create rules for the apps and websites you want to control

  • Block apps and websites together

  • Add friction before accessing something you've blocked

  • Set up your own blocking rules rather than relying purely on daily time limits

  • Track your usage and see how you're actually doing

We're still actively building and refining it, and we're getting ready for our Product Hunt launch.

I'd genuinely love feedback from other makers here, especially from anyone who has tried screen-time blockers or has struggled with doomscrolling themselves.

What would make you actually stick with an app like this instead of uninstalling it after a few days?

Would love to hear your thoughts. 🚀
