TreeTalk Node relaunched today - now Android talks directly to Windows

We first launched TreeTalk Node on Product Hunt in January as a little Windows-only local file-sharing tool.

Today we relaunched it after a fairly big change: Android is now public too.

Phones, tablets and Windows PCs can discover each other on the same Wi-Fi, LAN, phone hotspot or VPN and exchange files, text and recorded voice messages directly and privately.

No cloud relay, no account, no shared folders or NASes, and no sign-up required for ordinary local use.

One of the workflows I like most is also the simplest: select photos or videos in Android Gallery, tap Share, choose TreeTalk Node and send them directly to another Android device(s) or Windows PC(s).

The technical part that keeps getting interesting is peer discovery on real networks: multiple adapters, VPNs, guest Wi-Fi isolation and mixed Android/Windows setups.
