Structured Burn: cannabis recommendations that trace back to a signed lab COA
Hi everyone,
I’m Tom, Founder of Structured Burn.
Cannabis strain names don’t tell you much. Two products sold as the same strain can have very different terpene and cannabinoid profiles, and the only place the real numbers live is the lab’s Certificate of Analysis (COA).
So we built around the COA. Structured Burn matches what you want from a session (focus, creative, social, relax, sleep, and a few more) to products using their actual lab data. If a terpene value can’t be traced to a signed COA, it doesn’t feed the recommendation. We don’t estimate it.
What it does today:
Matches products to the experience you want, instead of sativa or indica labels
Shows terpene and cannabinoid breakdowns tied to lab results
Runs as an iOS and Android app
Under the app is a COA-backed data layer: lab results normalized into one structure so the same terpene and cannabinoid data can power recommendations for shoppers and, through our partner API and embeddable widget, for dispensaries and brands. If you work on the retail or brand side, I’d like to hear what you’d need from a data source like that.

I’d love your take on two things. Would you trust a recommendation more if you could open the COA it came from? And what’s the first thing you’d want to see on a product page?
Thanks for reading
