Shipped what the community told me to build
A few weeks back I posted here about a stranger's comment reshaping my product roadmap — the short version: my Shopify reporting app was just automating a habit (checking your numbers) instead of actually telling merchants anything useful. Someone framed it as "insurance against a bad week" instead of a weekly export, and it stuck.
Here's what shipped since then:
- Predictive alerts (6 rules: revenue drop, order drop, AOV drop, anomalies, no-sales periods)
- A recommendations engine — actionable suggestions, never an invented cause
- Plain-language insights explaining what's happening, not just raw numbers
- Excel export alongside PDF/CSV
- Rebuilt PDF/email on one shared data source so the two can't drift apart
- 186 automated tests across all of it
Also fixed something embarrassing: my own pricing page still said "unlimited reports, email delivery, email support" while the product had already grown way past that. Fixed now.
Honest state, same as last time: too early to know if any of this moves installs. But the product itself is genuinely different than it was three weeks ago, and it happened because of feedback here and on Indie Hackers, not because I sat and brainstormed alone.

That's awesome and what this community is all about!
Glad that a stranger's insights helped you improve your product :)
@anna_ludwinowski Thanks Anna! Honestly wasn't expecting a random comment to actually change what I ended up building, but here we are. Appreciate you following the update.
@ayoub_tarhi That's what's so good about this PH community! I'm launching my app Nugget today - maybe your comment will improve my product?! ;)
@anna_ludwinowski Ha, I'll take that as a challenge :) Going to go check out Nugget right now — good luck with the launch today, first ones are always the most nerve-wracking. Will leave real thoughts, not just a good-luck emoji.
@ayoub_tarhi LOL, thanks so much - appreciate it!!
