Morello: a local home energy controller in development — looking for feedback
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Sebastian, and my team and I are building Morello, a commercial home energy controller. We're still in development and would like feedback before the first release.
The problem we're working on: solar panels, a home battery, an EV charger and a heat pump often have separate schedules and apps. We'd like to plan their operation together around solar forecasts, household needs and, for dynamic electricity tariffs, changing prices. The goal is to let people state practical constraints such as 'have the car ready by 7 am' through voice or chat.
Morello is intended to run on a small box in the home network. The project builds on Home Assistant and evcc; our focus is making coordinated energy planning and everyday operation more accessible. The AI assistant, weather forecasts, electricity prices and updates need internet access, so this is not a fully offline product.
We're assessing which device models and control interfaces we can support. Older devices may require adapters or wiring changes. There isn't a public product trial yet, and the examples on our website illustrate the intended experience rather than a working customer installation.
The planned early-bird price is EUR 200 for the box plus EUR 9.90/month. We're particularly interested in:
1. Where does coordinating your battery, charging and heating still take manual work?
2. What would a managed product need to do better than your current setup to justify that price, especially the subscription?
3. Which devices or interfaces should we prioritize, and what would you expect to keep working if the internet connection goes down?

There's an optional signup for launch information; no payment is taken. Feedback here is just as welcome, including reasons you wouldn't use it.
Thanks,
Sebastian
