🤔 Is local AI ready to become the default?
We’re spent the last few months building MindBridge around a question:
What if your AI assistant didn’t need to send your personal data to the cloud?
Local AI has come a long way.
Models are getting smaller and more capable. Tools like Ollama and ComfyUI make it possible to run increasingly powerful AI directly on a personal computer.
But I think there’s still a big gap.
For developers and AI enthusiasts, running local models is becoming easier.
For everyone else?
It can still involve models, runtimes, checkpoints, ports, folders, configurations and a lot of troubleshooting.
And that raises an interesting question:
Is the real challenge of local AI no longer the models, but the experience around them?
That’s one of the problems we’re trying to solve with MindBridge.
The idea is simple: make local AI feel like a normal desktop application.
Chat with it.
Give it access to your own files and knowledge.
Write and code with it.
Generate images locally.
Use voice and multimodal features.
And keep cloud AI optional rather than mandatory.
We’re still in beta, so I’m genuinely curious about what the Product Hunt community thinks.
Would you use an AI assistant that runs primarily on your own computer?
And if you already use local AI:
👉 What’s the biggest thing stopping you from using it every day?
I’d love to hear both sides — especially from people who have tried local AI and decided it wasn’t worth the setup.
We’re building MindBridge around this problem, and your answers could influence what we build next.
