Introducing PMDesk: a Mac desk for multiple Claude Code & Codex agents

by•

Hi everyone,

I'm the maker of PMDesk. I work on several client projects plus my own products, and over time I moved almost everything (docs, Q&A, backlog, implementation) into AI agents and the command line. One agent per project was easy. Ten of them was not.

I ran iTerm2 with one screen split into many panes, and I could never tell at a glance which project a pane belonged to, what it was doing, or whether it was waiting for my answer. Reading a client document meant opening Box, finding the file, downloading it, then handing it to the agent.

So I built PMDesk. It's a macOS app for the person directing the agents, not for writing code by hand.

What's in it today

  • Many projects and sessions, no confusion: one tab per project with Claude Code or Codex in a real terminal. Sessions keep running in the background, and a badge (plus an optional macOS notification) shows which one is waiting for you.

  • Documents without the folder-hopping: register a document folder (Box, Google Drive, any local folder). Type @ in the terminal and search by name, or browse a folder tree tab, and the file goes straight to the agent. Jump to the original or parent folder in Finder in one click. PMDesk never writes to your documents.

  • Chat with your docs: ask the agent questions against a folder, a file or a passage, with clickable source citations. It reads xlsx, docx and pptx too.

  • Review without an IDE: preview the Markdown/HTML/images the agent produces, leave comments in one pass, send them all back to the agent.

  • To-dos, requests and change requests: park questions for later, write what you want and hand it to an agent with one click.

Privacy

Project files, docs, requests, to-dos and session history stay in the project folder on your Mac. There's no PMDesk server that receives them. PMDesk includes no AI model: the agents use your own subscription.

Honest limits

macOS (Apple silicon) only for now (Windows is coming), local folders, not a code editor, no git worktree management.

I'd love your feedback, especially: how many agents do you run in parallel before your review quality starts to drop?

(Claude Code is a product of Anthropic and Codex of OpenAI. PMDesk is independent and not affiliated with either.)
