I’m building my own Pomodoro timer — would love some feedback before launch
I've been building a Pomodoro timer as the first tool for a small web-tools project I'm working on.
There are already plenty of Pomodoro timers, so I didn't want to make another copy of the usual 25/5 timer.
One thing I wanted to change was how progress is recorded.
Most productivity tools tend to focus on completed sessions, streaks, or session counts. Mine records the actual time you focused or rested instead.
If you focus for 10 minutes and stop, you still have 10 minutes of focus time.
If you focus for 100 minutes, you have 100 minutes.
There is no "failed session" just because you stopped before the timer ended.
I'm also working around that idea with:
flexible focus / break / long-break times
saved presets for different routines
daily and weekly time goals
reports based on actual focused time
different ways to make the timer feel less mechanical and more pleasant to use
The tool is mostly functional now, and I'm currently refining the UI, reports, and overall experience before I properly launch it.
I'm especially curious about one thing:
When you use a Pomodoro or focus timer, what actually makes you come back to it?
Is it simplicity, statistics, sounds, visual atmosphere, goals, presets, or something else?
I'd love to hear how other people use focus timers before I finish this version.
I'm building it here:
