I built an offline AI on a USB drive from a hospital bed — launching today on PH

by

Four years ago, I was placed on a liver transplant list. I spent those years mostly in bed — blood infusions weekly, vomiting blood, unable to work my law practice.

I had been a police officer and served in the military before becoming a criminal defense attorney in Connecticut. I thought I'd seen everything. I was wrong.

What kept me sane was my laptop. With nothing but time, I taught myself Python, dove deep into AI, and became obsessed with one question: what if an AI assistant required no internet, no cloud, no subscription — and lived entirely on a USB drive?

I named her EVA — after my daughter.

EVA is a complete offline AI assistant that runs from a USB drive on any Windows 10/11 PC. No install. No Wi-Fi. No data leaving your device. Ever. One payment of $149, yours forever.

I received my transplant. I'm healthy. I'm back. And EVA is launching on Product Hunt today.

If you believe your conversations belong to you — not to a server farm — I'd love your support.

What an inspiring story...building something so meaningful from that experience is truly impressive! If you're up for it, I'm launching on PH soon...would appreciate a follow (See "PRODUCT HUNT LAUNCH" Link in my profile) The Sponge is my AI-powered flashcard app.
