I built a private expense tracker that doesn't need access to your bank

Today I launched Tally on Product Hunt.

I started building it around a pretty simple idea: tracking your expenses shouldn't require giving another company access to your bank account.

Tally lets you keep control over how your financial data gets into the app:

  • add expenses manually

  • scan receipts

  • import bank statements when you want to

  • understand where your money is going without turning it into a complex budgeting system

I've deliberately tried to keep it simple and privacy-focused rather than adding automatic bank connections.

I'm particularly curious about one thing:

For those of you who don't connect your bank account to finance apps, what makes you stick with an expense tracker long term?

Is it speed of entry, better insights, automation, privacy, something else?

Tally launched today, and I'd really value the feedback from other makers and users here.
