How I’m hitting a 22% conversion rate by removing "smart" features from my apps
Hi Product Hunt community!
I’ve been experimenting with a "less is more" approach for my new app studio, Vynta Lab.
My first two utility apps : Carebell (medication tracker) and Dew (water tracker), were built with a radical focus on privacy and simplicity:
100% Offline-first: No data leaves the device.
No accounts: Users can start using the tool in 2 seconds.
Zero bloat: Just the essential utility, no social feeds or streaks.
The result? A 22% Store Listing Conversion Rate on the Play Store. It seems like people are finally getting tired of "big tech" apps that demand their email address just to log a glass of water or a pill.
I’m curious to hear from other makers here: Have you noticed a shift toward "quiet" utilities? Do you think privacy-first design is becoming a major competitive advantage in 2026?
I'd love to get your feedback on this approach!
