How do you track sprint capacity vs. actual logged time in Azure DevOps?

by•

Hey Product Hunt community! 👋

I’ve been working as a software architect for a while now, and if there’s one recurring headache I see across dev teams using Azure DevOps, it’s getting a clear, low-friction view of sprint capacity versus actual logged hours.

Built-in ADO reporting can feel a bit rigid, and teams often end up maintaining manual spreadsheets or forcing overly complex add-ons just to answer two basic questions:

  1. Are we on track with our capacity this sprint?

  2. Are our initial estimates actually realistic over time?

To fix this for my own workflow, I’ve been building SprintGauge — a tool to give Team Leads and PMs a simple visual signal on capacity variance and estimation accuracy.

Currently it's in free beta, I’d love to learn from this community:

  • How is your team currently handling capacity tracking and estimation reviews in ADO?

  • Do you rely on built-in metrics, custom queries/spreadsheets, or third-party tools?

Would love to hear how you tackle this in your daily routines! 💬
