Building NIKA: verify trading ideas before trusting a backtest

I’m building NIKA — AI Trading Lab around a simple principle:

Don’t trust a strategy. Verify it.

A clean equity curve can still be wrong, so before trusting a backtest I’m focusing on four checks:

1. What data was used?

2. Were fees and slippage included?

3. How many trades are in the sample?

4. Which assumptions can break the result?

The goal is evidence-first AI trading research for learning and demo use, not financial advice.

I’d appreciate feedback from builders/researchers: what verification step would you want to see before trusting a backtest result?
