Auto-DM new followers on X — and the API approval wall standing between us and Instagram/LinkedIn

by

Quick question before I get into the product stuff: has anyone here successfully gotten through Meta's instagram_manage_messages app review, or LinkedIn's Community Management API invite process? Genuinely asking — I'm in the middle of both and the opacity is remarkable.

Here's the context. I shipped Auto DM replies in XreplyAI this week. The idea is simple: when someone new follows you on X, they automatically get a personalized DM. You write the template once, drop in a {name} placeholder, and it runs in the background. It snapshots your existing followers on first run so you don't accidentally message people who already follow you, then polls for net-new followers each cycle. Rate-limited to stay inside X's DM thresholds.

For a solo founder who gets a steady drip of new followers but never has time to actually reach out — this closes a loop that most people just leave open.

The X version is live on XreplyAI plans. What I'm excited about is bringing the same thing to Instagram and LinkedIn, which is where the API walls are. Meta's DM permission review is slow and outcome-uncertain. LinkedIn's Community Management API doesn't even have a public application — it's invite-only through a partnership process with no clear timeline.

I'm building in public on this one. If you've been through either approval process and have any insight on what actually moves the needle, I'd love to hear it.
