Are snoring apps actually useful, or just another sleep score?
I’ve been working on SnoreStop AI, an iPhone app that records snoring overnight and turns it into a simple morning report.
The more I dig into this space, the more I think the hard part is not just detecting snoring. It’s making the data useful without pretending the app can diagnose sleep apnea or “fix” someone’s sleep.
Right now we’re focused on:
- short audio clips you can replay
- a timeline of when snoring happened
- simple snore patterns over time
- notes after trying changes like side sleeping, less alcohol, nasal strips, pillow height, etc.
But I keep coming back to the same question:
What would make sleep audio genuinely useful?
Is it hearing the proof?
Seeing trends?
Having something to show a doctor?
Comparing experiments over several nights?
Or do these apps mostly make people overthink their sleep?
Curious how people here think about this. Especially anyone who has used sleep tracking, snoring apps, CPAP, wearables, or built health/wellness products.
