8 Months of Building, 2 Weeks Until Launch – What Would You Do Differently?

by

I'm getting ready to launch my first product in a couple of weeks, and it's been quite a journey.

What started as a simple idea ended up taking around 8 months of evenings, weekends, redesigns, bug fixes, and more learning than I expected. I've gone from knowing very little about launching a product to navigating app stores, user testing, onboarding flows, marketing, and everything in between.

One lesson I've learned is that building the product is only half the challenge. As launch gets closer, I'm spending more time thinking about distribution, positioning, and getting in front of the right people.

For those of you who have launched products before:

  • What was the biggest mistake you made before launch?

  • What had the biggest impact on launch day?

  • What would you focus on if you had 2 weeks left before release?

  • Is there anything you wish you'd started doing earlier?

I'm interested in hearing real experiences from other makers, whether your launch was a success or a complete disaster.

Thanks in advance for any insights. I'm sure there's still plenty I haven't thought about yet. 🚀

This follows Product Hunt forum guidelines because:

  • It's community-focused.

  • You're asking for advice and discussion rather than promoting your app.

  • It doesn't mention your product name, links, downloads, or ask people to sign up.

  • It invites other makers to share experiences, which tends to get more engagement.
