Secret - Encrypted text and file sharing, self-host ready

by
Secret lets you share private text, passwords, and files without giving the server access to the plaintext. Content is encrypted in the browser before upload, with the decryption key kept in the URL fragment. Links can expire, be limited to one-time reads, and tracked separately from the secret content. It works instantly as a hosted tool, and is self-host ready for teams that want control over infrastructure, usage limits, and data retention.

Hey Product Hunt, I built Secret as an open-source tool for sharing sensitive text and files more safely. You can try it right away on the hosted website without setting anything up. If you prefer to run it under your own control, Secret is also self-host ready. The code is public, so you’re welcome to review the implementation, audit the security model, open issues, or contribute improvements. This is a product, but I’m not launching it as a business or trying to monetize it. I mainly want more people to discover it, use it, question it, and help make it better. Thanks for taking a look.
