Every budgeting app I look at requires you to log in and sync your bank account. I know it's for automation, but it completely kills the privacy aspect.
I've been building a local-first web app with zero database precisely because of this. I'd much rather manually enter my numbers for 2 minutes than hand over my financial API keys to a third-party server.
Am I the only one who thinks "auto-sync" is a massive privacy trade-off that nobody talks about? How do you guys handle this?
Freelance income is a psychological nightmare. You make $5k one month and $0 the next. Every time I want to buy something, I'm doing mental math: "Okay, rent is due, that client hasn't paid the late invoice yet, and I need to save 25% for taxes... so can I afford this $50 dinner?"
I ended up coding a simple tool that just gives me one number: what is safe to spend today.
How are you guys currently calculating your daily spending limit without going broke before the end of the month?
SafeSpend gives freelancers one honest number: what you can actually spend today, after tax, bills, and a safety floor. No account, no bank login, no cloud, no subscription. Enter four numbers and your ledger works: cash on hand, a floor you never spend below, a tax set-aside, and your currency. Every invoice and bill shapes your daily number, so a big month never tricks you into a broke one. Your data never leaves your device and it works offline. One-time purchase, yours for good.
