👥 How to find a co-founder?

by•

Me and Raf have been working together for more than 12 years !

He was the founder of the animation studio where I joined as an intern.

We started working together, and he taught me things I didn’t even learn at the institute =)

For years, I was trying to help the studio with art direction, management, and basically anything I thought I could help with.

Raf has always had this nature of giving teammates a lot of freedom - to act, experiment, speak openly, and do their best.

Over the years, we started trusting each other. We learned how to work smoothly together, solve problems, and find solutions.

RunEvr was one of those solutions, and we naturally became co-founders.

In my case, I have a little technical background. I can have big ideas, understand what needs to be built, and see the whole picture - but implementing some of those ideas myself is almost impossible =D

And this makes me wonder:

If you need a co-founder with a background you don't have, where do you find that person?

And another thing I'm curious about:

How do you build trust with a new co-founder?

We had 12+ years to build ours. But what if you meet someone today and decide to build a company together?

How did you find your co-founder?

How did you build trust together?

I didn't go cofounder-hunting. Raf and I had years of client work before RunEvr. If I met someone new today I'd do one small shipped thing first and see if they finish without me rewriting half of it. Trust for us was one week we both said no to scope instead of nodding along.
