What’s the messiest part of running a shared flat?

Hi everyone, I’m Karan, and I’m building Roomia.

Finding a flatmate is only half the job. The real trouble starts after you move in: who paid what, what the house rules are, what happens when someone leaves.

We recently launched My Home to help with that: one place to split bills, keep rent shares and house rules, and find a replacement when someone moves out.

I’d like to learn from people who live with flatmates:

• How do you track rent and shared expenses today? WhatsApp, Splitwise, a sheet, memory?

• What causes the most arguments? Money, cleaning, guests, noise?

• What happens when someone moves out? How do you find the next person?
