Thank you — and what file task should Ricly handle next?

by•

Hi everyone,

Thank you for following Ricly. It means a lot for a first launch.

I know most of you probably haven't had the chance to try it yet. Whenever you do, I'd really love to hear what you think: what works, what doesn't, what's missing. I want to build Ricly close to the people who use it, so every piece of feedback is welcome, even the critical kind.

And if there's a file task you still do in a browser tab or a separate app, tell me about it. It might become the next tool in the menu.

You can reply right here, or write to me at .

If you want to give it a spin: it's free to start, no card needed, macOS 13 or later.

HEIC to JPG, hands down. every time someone sends a photo from an iPhone and I need to drop it into a doc or a web form that doesn't take HEIC, I'm opening Preview, exporting, renaming, then deleting the original. a right-click "convert to JPG" on a single file or a whole folder would kill that entire loop for me. bonus points if it can also downsize to a max dimension at the same time, since the export-from-iPhone files are often way bigger than anything I actually need.

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of loop I built Ricly for. :)

Good news: most of it is already there. Select one or several HEIC photos, right-click, Ricly, Convert to JPG. The JPG lands next to the original, which stays untouched.

For the downsizing, use Quick Resize instead: it takes HEIC too and saves a resized JPG in one step, either to a max width or height, or under a target size in MB.

One thing it doesn't do yet is work when you right-click the folder itself. For now, open the folder, select all, and right-click. Would you want it to include subfolders too?
