What makes a remote job listing actually trustworthy?
I’ve spent the last few months rebuilding a remote job board, and one thing keeps standing out: the biggest problem isn’t finding more jobs — it’s knowing whether a listing is still worth your time.
A role can say “remote” but later turn out to be USA-only, Europe-only, hybrid, or already stale. Sometimes the salary is unclear, or the original employer source is difficult to find.
That’s what I’m rebuilding RemoteOrNothing around: making the important signals visible before someone applies — where you can actually work from, whether the role is genuinely remote, when the source was last checked, and where the original application lives. The system also refreshes supported sources automatically so withdrawn or stale roles can be removed instead of quietly accumulating on the board. Salary is shown only when the employer actually disclosed it.
I’ve also been expanding beyond the listing itself with salary data, salary calculations, cost-of-living comparisons and tax information, because finding a remote job is only part of the decision — understanding whether that job actually makes sense for where you live matters too.
If you search for remote jobs, what are the 2–3 things you want to know immediately before clicking Apply?
And is there anything remote job boards do today that you wish they would stop doing?
