I was running Claude Code, Codex, and opencode side by side on different projects. One evening I hit my Claude 5-hour limit mid-task — no warning, work just stopped, and the context I'd built up over an hour was stranded in that session. To keep going I had to manually re-explain everything to a different tool. That's when the handoff idea clicked: the session file has all the context - a tool should be able to distill it and carry it across. Second: I kept losing sessions. "Which terminal was that refactor in? Which tool? Was it last Tuesday?" With ten tools each keeping its own history in its own format, your own work becomes unsearchable. Third: Fear of losing my craft and constant improvements. We have a built-in skill atrophy check.
