Why we went 100% accountless (no email signup, zero document storage) for contract redlining

by•

When we started building RedlineAuditor, the biggest complaint we heard from founders and small business owners wasn't just that lawyers take a week to mark up a first draft. It was privacy and subscription fatigue.

Almost nobody wants to create yet another account, hand over their work email, and upload a confidential commercial lease, client MSA, or NDA into a permanent cloud database just to check where the other party slipped in a one-sided indemnity or auto-renewal trap.

So we made a pretty unusual product decision early on: no user accounts and no document database at all.

When you drop a contract in to check the fairness score or generate the replacement redline clauses and Word addendum, the file is parsed in memory and immediately discarded. And instead of forcing an account login to save your remaining audits, the app issues a portable cryptographic license key you can save locally as a text file and paste into any browser whenever you need it.

For those of you who review vendor contracts, client MSAs, or commercial leases:

  1. What is the single nastiest clause someone has tried to slip into a first draft with you?

  2. Do you prefer a stateless, no-login workflow for sensitive documents, or do you actually want a cloud dashboard that saves past contracts?
