Is "pay to rank" fair? Honest question before we launch

by•

RankIndia is a leaderboard for Indian startups, apps and small businesses where the only ranking rule is total bid. ₹1 gets you on the board, the highest total bid is #1, and everything resets on the 1st of every month.

I picked this deliberately: ads and directories already sell visibility, they just hide the price. Here the price is public, anyone can see what #1 cost, and your users can boost you without logging in.

Before launch I want to hear the objection, not the applause:

1. Does a leaderboard decided by money feel fair to you, or does it feel like pay-to-win?

2. Would the monthly reset change your answer?

3. What would make you spend ₹1 on your own project?
