I built QuickNotes because I wanted a faster way to capture ideas, tasks, links, and references without leaving the browser or sending everything to another cloud workspace. At first, it was just a simple note extension. But while using it daily, I kept running into the same needs: organize notes into folders and tags, pin important items, save web pages as bookmarks, embed useful pages, add todos, tables, images, code blocks, and connect notes with @ references. So the product evolved from “quick notes” into a lightweight local-first editor for everyday thinking and web research. The goal is still simple: open it fast, write naturally, organize clearly, and keep your data under your control.

The local-first approach is a huge plus for me. One thing that would make this way more useful is a quick global keyboard shortcut to capture a thought from any tab, then have it drop straight into an inbox folder for me to sort later. That way the other rich features become a bonus instead of a friction point when I just need to jot something down fast.

the slash commands and @ note references are honestly pretty smooth for linking ideas together, and i like that everything just stays local without needing an account.

 Thank you! Hearing this absolutely makes my day. The goal from day one was to completely remove the friction of 'signing up' and just let people start connecting thoughts instantly. I spent a lot of time polishing the slash commands so they feel natural—really glad you're enjoying the workflow!

Finally tried QuickNotes and honestly the slash commands make it feel way faster than my usual workflow. The local-first setup is a nice touch too, especially being able to embed webpages right inside a note.

Quick Update for the weekend! ⚡️

I’ve just rolled out two highly requested features for the extension to speed up your daily capture routine:

  1. Web Clipper: Quickly save web content to your notes via right-click for easy organization and reading later. (Special thanks to @ for requesting this! 🙌)

  2. Templates: You can now use templates to quickly create preset notes, instantly getting you into the zone for work and study.
