What makes you stop trusting a new app?

by

I’ve been thinking a lot about first impressions.

Sometimes I open a new app and immediately feel confident using it. Other times, I close it within a minute—even if the idea itself is interesting.

I’m trying to understand what creates that difference.

For you, what causes trust to drop during those first few minutes?

Is it:

  • Missing information?

  • Confusing navigation?

  • Too many AI-generated suggestions?

  • Poor explanations of how recommendations are made?

  • Something else entirely?

I’m asking because I’m revisiting the onboarding and product pages for something I’m building, and I’d rather learn from real experiences than guess.

What are the biggest trust killers you’ve noticed in new products?
