Looking for STUDENTS to pilot Profspect, a tool that researches your courses and professors for you

by•

hey PH, i'm Carter, a community college student building

the problem i kept hitting is that every semester you pick classes and professors basically blind. you dig through RateMyProfessors, ask around, cross your fingers, and hope you didn't just land a brutal section. and if you're transferring, one course that doesn't articulate can cost you a whole term.

so i built Profspect. you give it your goals (transfer target, GPA, career, whatever), and it researches the public record for you (e.g., RateMyProfessors, posted syllabi, the catalog, articulation agreements, etc.). then it hands you a report on which courses to take, in what order, and which professors fit what you're actually going for. every claim is linked to its source so you can check it yourself. it doesn't tell you a professor is "good" or "bad," it shows how they line up with your stated goals.

it's still early. the real launch is mid-to-late July. before that i want students to put it through its worst, so i'm looking for a few pilots (free) who'll use it for their next registration and tell me what's useful and what's broken. my first pilot caught a real bug, i fixed it same day, and his next report came back 5/5. that's exactly the feedback i'm after.

it's built for students picking next semester, transfers mapping their remaining path, and incoming freshmen who have no clue where to start.
