The Story Behind Privacy Suite: Why I Built a Local-First Privacy Utility

by

Hi everyone! I’m the developer behind Privacy Suite.

I built this tool because I believe privacy shouldn't be complicated, and it certainly shouldn't require trusting a third-party server with your sensitive data. Like many of you, I grew tired of uploading files to "sanitization" sites that promise privacy but don't give me any real control over where my data goes.

Privacy Suite is designed as a self-contained, local-first workstation. I developed it to handle everything right in your browser—no uploads, no server dependency, and no cloud-side processing.

It currently integrates a full workflow for:

  • Metadata Stripping: Clean document and media metadata instantly.

  • Media Sanitization: Strip data from your files without sacrificing quality.

  • Smart Redaction: Permanently burn sensitive pixels into images.

  • Local Encryption: Secure your files with robust, browser-native AES-GCM encryption.

I wanted to build a single, cohesive pipeline that gives power users absolute data sovereignty. I’m incredibly excited to see how you use these tools to secure your daily workflows.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—which feature are you using the most, and is there anything else you’d like to see in the suite? Let me know in the comments below!
