Why do dating apps still make trust feel optional?

Launching a Preet, Nepal’s first AI-powered dating app designed around trust and real identity.

While researching dating in Nepal, one problem kept appearing: people wanted to meet someone, but they were worried about fake profiles, catfishing, bots, privacy, and being recognised by relatives or colleagues.

So we made face verification part of every account. We also introduced:

• AI-assisted profiles that better represent the person

• Incognito browsing for greater privacy and control

• Moments for sharing real-life updates with matches

• A Nepal-first experience designed around local culture

But identity verification creates an interesting trade-off. It can make a dating community safer, while also adding friction during registration.
