Hey PH 👋 I'm Winston Xie, solo dev behind Plume.

The two complaints I kept hearing about Android notes apps: "too many ads" and "I lost my notes." Plume's answer to both is subtraction — no ads, no account, no server. Your notes are files on your device, not rows in someone else's database. The whole app is under 6 MB.

And the subtraction stops there: Plume matches the big apps feature for feature, and does a few things they don't.

  • Full-text search + filters by color, date, folder, tag

  • Reminders — one-time or repeating, with optional full-screen alerts

  • Unlimited folders and notes, no paywall

  • Checklists, photos, drawing, voice notes, Markdown & LaTeX

  • One-tap export of your entire notebook as a browsable offline site (Pro) — I haven't seen another notes app do this

The free tier is not a trial: no note limit, no time limit, no watermark. Pro is a one-time purchase for the extras — themes, styled PDF/HTML export, that offline site, automatic encrypted backups.

Privacy, verified rather than promised: εxodus reports 0 trackers (), and everything works in airplane mode — there's simply nothing to phone home to.

Honest limits: no cloud sync — that's the direct cost of having no account; changing phones means exporting one backup file and importing it. No collab, and closed source: if auditable code matters to you, Standard Notes and Joplin are excellent.
