Launching Tomorrow: PixLocal - Privacy-first image & PDF tools (100% client-side, zero uploads)

by•

Hey Product Hunt community!

I'm launching PixLocal tomorrow, and I wanted to share the story and get your feedback.

The Problem:

I've been in IT for 24+ years, building high-load systems. Over time, I grew uncomfortable with how we casually upload personal photos, IDs, and sensitive documents to "free" online compressors. Where do they go? Are they stored? Used for AI training? We have no way to know.

The Solution:

PixLocal is different. It processes everything (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, PDF) 100% locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your files physically never leave your device. No servers, no tracking, no cloud.

Key Features:

Zero uploads - files stay on your device (and no network traffic for your media)

Lightning-fast compression via WebAssembly

Works offline as a PWA

Compress JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC + some images tools

Full PDF toolkit (compress, merge, split, convert)

Available in multiple languages

Why I'm Excited:

This is my take on "local-first" web apps. I believe the future of privacy-sensitive tools is client-side processing, and WebAssembly makes this possible.

I'd Love Your Input:

- What features would make this indispensable for your workflow?

- What other formats or tools would you like to see?

- Any concerns or suggestions?

The launch goes live tomorrow at 00:01 PT. Would love to hear from this community!
