Piqt - Find your best photos. Clear out the rest. All on-device.

Hello Product Hunt! My name is Steve and I've been in this space a long time, but this is my first solo app. After over 20 years of photos, videos, and screenshots covering graduations, weddings, vacations, children, first house, and milestones large and small, my photos library is a pain. First the issue was space, but Apple added the ability to Optimize Storage, which just made it worse, because now my library is almost unlimited. Now the big problem is usability. It's still hard to navigate and only find what I want without scrolling past hundreds of similar shots, or shots that were great at the time, but not so great any more. It turns out every time I talked to someone else about it, they have the same problem. That's why I built Piqt. I wanted an app that could scan my library, tell me which images and videos are the best (and worst), identify the similar shots (not just identical ones), and categorize my screenshots, then help me clear out the rest. It started in Jupyter Notebooks with a bunch of open source machine learning models, Apple Vision APIs, and good old fashioned statistical models to see if I could make sense out of my library. It worked, so I took some time off this summer to build Piqt. I also feel strongly about privacy, security, and efficiency, so I built Piqt with those three in mind. Your photos stay private on your device (or your iCloud). Piqt never sends your images anywhere, and requires no accounts, logins, or cloud services to score and rank your library. Since all of the AI runs on-device, it's efficient and keeps your work out of a random datacenter somewhere. I also know how important these memories are to me and my users, so Piqt never deletes them directly. In fact it CAN'T and builds fail if the destructive PhotoKit APIs ever show up in the code. Instead, Piqt places them in an album, so you can decide when and if you delete them.
