Four days after launch: 5 languages, referral credits, and harder privacy

by•

Short update for anyone following PikFind.

Launch week is over, so here's what actually got shipped instead of a victory lap.

Guest UI is now in Korean, English, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese. It follows the browser language on the first visit, and if a guest switches manually it sticks across every page.

Referral credits for photographers: invite one and you both get 2,000 photo credits — they get theirs after starting as a photographer, you get yours once they upload their first photo, up to 10 invites. Event photographers already work in teams, so this just follows how the work actually moves.

Harder privacy boundaries: event PIN access, original-photo permissions, face-search confirmation, cross-event delete protection, and takedown requests you can file straight from the photo itself.

Same promise as day one — upload once, share one link, guests take one selfie and get back only the photos they're actually in. No app, no account, no scrolling through thousands. It's been tested against a real festival gallery of 5,184 photos.

Still early. No paying customers yet, and I'd rather say that than not.

One thing I'd genuinely like an outside read on: of those three, the referral credits are the piece I'm least sure about. Does giving away credits actually pull new photographers in, or does it mostly just discount the people who were going to sign up anyway? If you've run a referral loop on a tool with real per-unit cost, I'd like to hear how it went.
